ASCE is a national network of civil engineers. The student chapter at the University of Florida allows civil engineering students to become more involved through community service, sports, engineering competition, and social events. There are currently about 250 active members in our chapter.
The UF chapter is active in several community service projects including Adopt- A-Road, Habitat for Humanity, SECME, Ronald McDonald House, and the Boys and Girls Club of Alachua.
Intramural sports like football, softball, soccer, and tennis are just some of the athletic activities that ASCE is involved with. Athletics promote competition, team work, and a healthy lifestyle.
Every year in mid spring the ASCE Southeast Regional Conference is held. At least 27 civil engineering schools and universities compete in 11 events. The most well known events include the Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe competition.
There are several social events that ASCE sponsors. Before every home football game, BBQ's are held in 'The Pit'. ASCE also has its own block seating for Gator football games. Also, at the end of every semester a banquet is held to congratulate outstanding members and officers.
By joining ASCE at UF you will prepare yourself for the challenges of the future. If you are interested in joining or would like more information please stop by our office in 453 Weil Hall, give us a call at (352) 392-9537 ext. 1524, or email us at asce@UFASCE.com.
